A fine vintage brass signal lock from the Illinois Central Railroad. In a raised flat panel is cast - ILLINOIS CENTRAL SIGNAL. The dust cover is cast with a raised - REMOVE KEY WHEN LOCKING. The dust cover works well, sliding open when pressed and snapping back when released. It measures 3 1/4 inches in height, 2 1/8 inches in width. It is locked closed and a key is not included. A scarce 2-1/8" x 1-3/8" cardboard matchbox from Canadian National Railways. This red, black and white Eddy match box features French on one side and English on the other; it is intact with bright graphics and the original inner tray. We were told it dates to c1950. I have never run across one before. It is in very good original condition with no losses, damage or repairs other than a touch of bumping to the edges and strike wear to the emery strips. This fine 1 5/16" tall, light gray glazed gray pipe (30.86CHJ), dating into the 1880s was found by Hank Johnson at the all-but-forgotten Union Pacific RR ghost town of Bridger Station, Wyoming. Located on the south side of the original UPRR tracks in the southwest part of the state, the town began as a section house in 1868, ended up with half dozen buildings or so, and lasted into the 1880s. The 8" x 12" frame (FP859) holds 34 relics found at the UPRR town of Percy, Wyoming (1868-1902). Located south of Hanna, this vanished UPRR town was named for Percy Brown, a young surveyor killed by marauding Indians as he worked along the roadbed to the west.
