Versatile 19th c.French market basket is hand made. It measures 11 1/2" across the bottom and 15" across the top. The maximum width is 12 1/4".There are 3 or 4 old breaks in the wire of the base , and one break on a side. Very busy artist bunny striding forward(stepping over three mushrooms) to get on with the job of painting Easter eggs. He is wearing long trousers, a short jacket, a quilted vest, a scarf and eyeglasses. Under one paw is a palette. The other paw has a bucket containing paint brushes. The overall height of the mould is 8 1/2" and the maximum width is about 5".
There is a maker's mark,a hunting horn. It is the mark of Walter Hornlein. The numbers on the mold are 30 on both sides and 3013 on one ... Click for details

This is a fabulous antique knife rest I brought home from England recently. The silver plated knife rest has double thistle ends with leaves for support and measure 1.25 inches high by 4.5 inches long and were made in England 1920-1930s. The thistle is the symbol of Scotland and this would be perfect on a tartan tablecloth set for tea with bannocks and marmalade!
