This is a vintage Sterling Silver Retractable pencil with swivel bail on top, 2-3/4" long x 3/8" diameter. Very thin and the size for a Chateline but the lead holder inside is a brass piece and looks more like the 30's-50's in age. Not certain how this was used but it does work well, front slips out and lead slips in, you twist to extend the lead. This is a Hawaiian Koa Wood Inkwell from Island Curio Company ca1915. The koa wood has gorgeous multicolor graining.
The glass inkwell has a black Bakelite lid. The well is marked on the bottom: GEM No52 Nov 5, 1912 (which is backwards!) and another hard to read marking. This item is all about the case. The cardboard pencil box is a mechanical circus parade - wonderful illustrations!. As you move the inner box the pictures on both sides of the outer box change. The flap at one end is detached - but all there. The box contains what looks like an unused pencil, 6" ruler and dip pen - no point. It measures 7 1/2" x 2 3/8". Really charming and unusual.

Original vintage 1936 Eagle Leads with counter display. This original advertising piece is in Mint condition and contains original cardboard counter display and 24 unopened wooden tubes of black pencil leads. This dates from 1936 and contains art deco eagle. This display of mechanical pencil replacement leads was from the Eagle Pencil Company. This is an unusual vintage Brilliant Period cut crystal inkwell, with hinged jockey cap lid of brass and brightly striped enamel; ca. 1930, from the Saratoga estate of the late Tommy Luther, prominent American jockey and founder of the original jockey guild; of square form, decorated with columns of notched prisms; condition: some minor chips on prism edges, wear to enamel; measurement: 2 _ inches x 2 _ inches, and 3 _ inches high.
