I can only read some Japanese but I see Meiji 8 and then Meiji 12 so the years for this printing seem to be between 1876 to 1880 provided I have the correct reading. The volume is in tact with part of the binding string undone, all the pages are there with a few tiny worm holes and pencil written slightly over title, but otherwise it's in great shape. The images are fantastic and a huge range of subjects...

Volume I of 2 published in 1879 by Houghton Osgood & Co. Boston. This is an oversized illustrated copy with embossed leather boards and gilt lettering. The boards show wear especially at the corners,there is a split between the frontispiece and the title page ( the binding on the whole is intact), the gilt pages have a few curls (see photos), and there is light toning.
The woodblock printed book " Hanashishu Hamon no maki " , collections of wave Vol. 4 from Hana Shishu dated Showa 59 ( 1984 ), original was published in Showa 10 ( 1935 ). This is published by Unsodo who is specialized in woodblock prints since Meiji 24 (1891 ) in Kyoto. The boards are stained and worn at the corners, the pages are uncut(just a few have minor loss at the edges),there is light foxing, and a water stain on the back of the frontispiece runs thru it. Illustrated. 403pgs.
Offered is a collection of six important catalogs of Japanese swords and sword furniture published 1981 to 1984 by Robert E Haynes, "Highly Important Japanese Swords and Kodoku," and catalogs 4,5,6,7 and 8, all in excellent condition. Sold as a lot.
Published in 1872 by A L BURT Co., New York. Condition: red boards show spotting and wear at the corners, the textblock is somewhat stained and there is a slight musty odor. The copyright page is missing however the introductory note references Trieste 1872. A good reading copy.
