9" x 6.25". Original volume 12 from the series by Katsuhika Hokusai Sketches series. I can only read some Japanese but I see Meiji 8 and then Meiji 12 so the years for this printing seem to be between 1876 to 1880 provided I have the correct reading. The volume is in tact with part of the binding string undone, all the pages are there with a few tiny worm holes and pencil written slightly over title, but otherwise it's in great shape. The images are fantastic and a huge range of subjects...

Volume I of 2 published in 1879 by Houghton Osgood & Co. Boston. This is an oversized illustrated copy with embossed leather boards and gilt lettering. The boards show wear especially at the corners,there is a split between the frontispiece and the title page ( the binding on the whole is intact), the gilt pages have a few curls (see photos), and there is light toning.
