1 1/4" diameter
A "sweetheart" locket showing a handsome Victorian couple with lightly tinted rosy cheeks. She is wearing a cameo; he is wearing an amazing bow tie? with stickpin. There appears to have been a third woman (notice the gloved hand!) who didn't make the final portrait.
The back of the case shows silver under the gold vermeil. I believe that the wear to the back of the case was created as people tried to open the back - which does not open...
The photograph is a tintype that is in excellent condition. The portrait is a 1/9 plate size image and in a nice union case made of leather covered wood. Inside the case has a velvet lining and a gold metal frame and glass. The case hinge is partially separated. The case is about 2 7/8 inches x 2 3/8 inches by 5/8 thick when closed.
