VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS CARD. Circa 1880s. An oblong folded card with deckled edges and an embossed design on the cover of four charming Greenaway style children. Captioned on the front: MANY HOURS OF GLADNESS. A printed Christmas verse is on the onside. Lightly soiled and with some wear to the corners. There is a small split at the top of the fold otherwise in good condition. The card has folded measurement of 4 1/2 inches by 3 1/4 inches.

THE VERY IMAGE OF ITS FATHER. The scene shows a mother and father cat proudly showing off their infant kitten. Printed advertisement on the reverse advertising the company's "Pure Havana Cuban Hand made Segar (sic)". The card measures 4 1/4 inches by 2 3/4 inches. In excellent condition.

Dickes (1815-1892) was a fine wood engraver and a pioneer in color printing. This card depicts a Hungarian man in native costume accompanied by his two dogs.
