VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS CARD. Circa 1880s. An oblong folded card with deckled edges and an embossed design on the cover of four charming Greenaway style children. Captioned on the front: MANY HOURS OF GLADNESS. A printed Christmas verse is on the onside. Lightly soiled and with some wear to the corners. There is a small split at the top of the fold otherwise in good condition. The card has folded measurement of 4 1/2 inches by 3 1/4 inches.

"HUNGARY" A FINE WOOD BLOCK COLOR CARD BY WILLIAM DICKES. London. 1869. The card is printed in full oil colors from wood blocks by means of a process developed by Dickes. Dickes (1815-1892) was a fine wood engraver and a pioneer in color printing. This card depicts a Hungarian man in native costume accompanied by his two dogs.
