This is a French legal document from the Napoleonic period, dated 1 February 1809. It is four pages, 10" x 7" on laid paper, with a lovely Imperial eagle water mark. It has a printed and an embossed seal which I think are revenue stamps. It is entirely hand written (in French of course) and has 15 signatures, none of which are known to me. I believe it is a routine land transfer or similar and should be appreciated as an artifact of Napoleonic France without the expectation that it might be of h... Click for details

Military commission to Cyrus M. Johnson asking that he become Captain of the New York Militia. Morgan Lewis (New York, 1754-1844) is the son of signer Francis Lewis, and was Chief of Staff to General Horatio Gates during The Revolutionary War and attaining rank of Colonel by the end of the War. In 1801, he became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New York. From 1805-1807, he commanded the U.S. forces in New York in 1814 as Major General.

This page is from a book which was published in Prague, Czech Republic in 1680 by and for the Congregation of the Old/New Synagogue founded in the 14th century. This is an ORIGINAL copper engraving depicting the consecration of the Hebrew Republic by blessing and curse near the mountains of Ebal and Gerizim. Arc of the Covenant is carried in center. The title of the print is in Dutch. This rare engraving was printed in 1683. Good condition. There are several original folds. 11 3/4 inches x 6 inches.

This is an ORIGINAL copper engraving of Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem , from the famous illustrated Bible of Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708), named : 'Alle de Voornaamste Historien des Ouden en Nieuwe Testaments", described in "Poortman", part II. The rhyme below the image is from H. Vos . The lower engraving shows the Romans burning the Temple. This genuine print was signed and printed in 1707. Good condition. 14 inches x 9 inches
