The Gendarme back chairs get their name from the Shape of Napoleon and the French Gendarmes(Policemans hat) from the mid 19th century. A vintage Japanese Kamo Kimono Biraki Tansu in 2 sections made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hardware and natural finish. Upper section has 2 sliding doors behind which lies a split level shelf and 2 small drawers with a pair of hinged doors that hides 4 full width Kimono trays. The bottom section has 3 side by side drawers and 3 full width drawers below.

A very fine and rare enameled and lacquered vase depicting a group of “Cranes in Flight”. The lacquer and cloisonné crane applied over an engine turned or guilloché vase of silver measuring 8 3/4” x 5”. The vase was possibly a presentation imperial gift.

Beautiful acacia wood dining set consisting of a banded dining table with four leaves (all with aprons), two armchairs and 10 sidechairs, a large server, a small server and a china cabinet. All pieces have carved knees and other carving as well. The table measures 61" closed x 42 1/2" wide. With the four leaves it expands to over 10 feet and has center legs for support...

A pre-war Art Deco era adjustable table. Heavy, solid wood with burl wood overlay. Rectangular table top with sides that raise or lower depending on preferred option of two different heights. Great condition with excellent burl wood figuring.
