DESCRIPTION: A pair of brass Southwestern cowboy spurs, likely from Mexico, each marked with “0000” and hand stamped with designs of stars, circles, geometric and foliate patterns. Each design is place by hand, not machine, and is hammered using a stamp. The stamped, sometimes irregular design is part of the appeal of a hand stamped piece.

DIMENSIONS: The rowels are 2.25", each with 28 points; yoke is approx. 3.25" w x 3.5" d; 1.25lbs total weight.

A rare piece of early Maroon culture. Surinamese Maroons (Marrons or Businenge, meaning black people of the forest) are the descendants of enslaved Africans that escaped from the plantations and settled in the inland of Suriname (Dutch Guiana) and French Guiana.
