This 1980 Japanese carved wood and walrus fisherman is 5 ¾” high, 2” wide and 2 ¼” thick. It depicts a smiling fisherman; one handing is holding a fish, another hand is holding a net. He carries a basket full of fish on his back. The fisherman’s body was carved from walrus; his robe and pants were carved from hard wood. The carver’s signature was placed on a piece of a red rectangular carnelian inlayed into the round wood base...

The base is cut to fit though tightly the base I have used nano tape to stick her to the base so none of the figure is covered. Size overall 2.5" figure alone is just under 2" and weighs 6.7G

Rare Meiji metal Okimono of a Monkey Samurai or Sage unsigned , great sculpt nice detail in the fur . There are a few splits to the base and this figure has been clear coated long ago but its bubbling off and could be totally removed with little effort. Vintage Japanese okimono of a sitting dog carved in ittobori (one cut) style typical for the Hida school. Very clever rendition of the animal, much more creative and challenging as a number of intersecting planes versus natural familiar rounded lines. Very clever use of ichii (yew wood), its texture nicely imitating fur of the animal. Wonderful face, in excellent condition, pyrographic (burned) stamp of the maker on the bottom. Japanese bronze okimono sculpture of a Hawk on rockery base. the Hawk stands on a a fantastic bronze rockery base with branches and waves. Signed with character marks on the side of the rockery. Measures 16 1/2" x 19 1/2" x 8". condition was cold painted at a later date though 99% of the paint has been removed.The left foot left toe is missing though a rough toe was created but we removed it during the cleaning it will come with the sculpture.

Japanese 20th century wooden carving OKIMONO of KANZAN, a hermit, carrying his signature rolled hand scroll in his right hand and pointing up with his left. Kanzan means "cold mountain" so he is sometimes called the recluse of cold mountain. He was a recluse in the Taoist tradition. He is almost always associated with JITTOKU and the two of the were suppose to have spoken in gibberish to each other...
