Brown silk homongi formal kimono with dots in jacquard and with gold threads interwoven, so that the fabric sparkles when the light hits it. The upper part is undecorated, except for three crests of the Sakagami family on the back...

This is a piece of noh drama costume which is called "Choken". Choken is made of silk gauze or weft silk gauze with woven designs with gold and colored threads. It is worn by a dancer or noble man in the noh stage. This choken has woven design of Hagi ( Japanese clover ) and Nadeshiko ( Dianthus ) with gold threads. A cloth made of 4 pieces of cotton cloth with sashiko which are vegetable indigo dye and hand-spun cotton. The sashiko yarn is cotton. 20th century. 62cm x 55cm

Generally sakiori is hand-woven of recycled strips from old cloth for wefts , however, we call the one also sakiori, whose wefts are bunch of yarns. In excellent condition. This is an a beautiful Uchikake (Japanese wedding gown) covered with embroideries on satin. The workmanship shown in this gown is truely amazing. It is in new condition.

The pair of loving birds are Oshi-dori (Mandarin ducks) which are popular subjects relating to weddings. The theme of this gown is probably from Chapter 5, "Lavender" (Waka Murasaki) in "The Tale of Genji". When Genji was traveling the countryside for the first time, he saw a beautiful young girl crying...

Sakiori obi handwoven of strips from silk kimono for weft and cotton yarn for warp. In excellent condition. 20th century. 14cm x 2m72cm

Silk Japanese obi, tapestry weave with a considerable use of genuine gold (Rinpa style as indicated) and some silver (it is either treated or some other metal). This obi is fukuro obi; the design on one side continues 9 feet from one end, 46 inches in a simpler geometric design before it ends with 18 1/4 inches long complicated design at the other end. The reverse side is a plain black satin silk without any design. Total measurements: 12 1/4" wide x 14'4" long.

Silk crepe kimono with modern design whose techniques are katazome (stencil-resist-dye) and hand-painting. In excellent condition except for a few stains in the top collar, however unvisible as it is folded inside, and light blue color slightly faded in the jointing parts of the body and sleeves. 1960s or 70s. 130cm x 146cm

Chirimen (crepe) silk kimono imprinted with Okinawa bingata design of irregular bands of flowers and plants of the seasons, in roundels, on waves, on vines etc. The outlines and basic forms are in brown, ochre and brown-red, while the flowers and leaves are colored in the red, yellow, green, and purple. Along the bottom is a band of stylized waves in red and brown.

Minsa obi (sashi) made in Taketomi Island in Okinawa. The features of Taketomi Minsa obi are: both wefts and warps are machine-spun cotton and handwoven. It has four and five block warp kasuri pattern and both selvedges have uneven horizontal stripes which symbolize mukade (centipede). The Size of Obi: 12 1/4" Wide x 176 "( 14 feet). This is wonderful Fine Japanese Kyo Obi with Platinum works with silk. Obi has Japanese Katakana marking at the end “PURACHINA” (platinum). It is not made of Platinum Haku (leaves) rather Platinum threads. It has beautiful Goshoguruma (Imperial wheel carrier).
