Open-work knob on lid with finely worked details. Signed in the botton: Dai (great) including small pure silver mark (gin). Fitted kiri-box. H 17 cm (with handle), D 13 cm. Weight: 387 g. Good Kayan Orang Ulu gawai rice festival ceremonial mask, circa 40 years old, from Sarawak. I bought this piece in Kuching, Sarawak in 2003. Used only twice a year for rice planting and harvesting festivals (gawai), these gatherings were usually a good excuse for a party and celebration to encourage the spirits to ensure a good harvest. H: 25cm/9.8in and W: 16cm/6.2in.
A beautiful hand thrown stoneware vase of tapering shape with three very small ears; mottled blue glaze / rubbing eggs glaze creating a stunning effect made by Ito Tosan. Ito Tozan I (1846-1920) or Ito Tozan II (1871-1937).
Seal mark underneath reading Tozan, enclosed in the original stamped cotton bag. It comes with a collector box from the 50´s.

The bowl is hand shaped, covered in black glaze with a few small areas in which the cream colour clay shows through. It rest very well in the hands! Raku mark impressed to the bottom. H 8 x 12 cm.
