Framed Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga “kappa-ban” (stencil print) on crumpled hand-made momigami paper by Sadao Watanabe (1913-1996) titled “Christ at Emmaus” set against a red background. The print is signed and dated 1971 at the lower right and numbered 11/70 at the lower left, all in white ink. The paper measures about 26”V x 21 1/4”H. Frame: 32”V x 27 1/2”H. Original Kato Gallery frame with non-glare glass.

Measuring 7 3/8", including bronze base, this figure of Quan Yin dates to the Republic Period of China, and has a stamped mark on the back of the figure. It is mounted to a bronze base, with a heavy weighted interior. The figure is of a clear white body, with heavy glaze showing mineral flecks, and has a slight yellowish tone in areas where it has pooled, with some fine crackling evident. In good condition, no chips, cracks or wear evident, base has darkened patina.

A large, powerful, Shigaraki ware vase of mallet-shape. Decorated with a mixture of ash-traces and kiln-encrustations with the area below the neck partly covered with a mottled olive glaze. The piece has a very nice, earthy quality and a fine sense of sabi-wabi. Signed Tansei, with fully signed kiri-box and yellow cloth in unusually good calligraphy. From around the 1970's. Japanese woodblock print by Akio Onda (1924- ) titled “Going to School.” Pencil-signed “Onda Akyio” and kanji titled. Circa 1960s. Akio Onda was a pupil of Shiko Munakata. His prints are produced on thin, translucent kozo paper to facilitate the application of pigment from the back. Paper size: 13 1/4”V x 12”H (excluding the four paper hinges at the top and bottom). Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Vase, Ca. mid to later part of 1800's, 14" high, 7 1/2" wide-widest in the middle, with Foo Dog handles on both sides, and high relief double reclining Chimeras on both sides above large panels of high ranking officers in the court, and floral design between panels. There are chips filled in under the wide top rim, and painted over the hairline cracks on the bottom. This vase will make a very nice table lamp.
