Antique Korean pair of shell inlaid butterflies. These butterflies symbolize joy and prosperity and were likely part of a wedding cabinet or trunk. Korean artisans are famous for their intricate inlay work. With beautiful details and mounted on custom metal stands.

Indian Jain bronze figure of Vishnu with Lakshmi seated on his knee. Six other figures are present including 2 attendants on the bottom. The figure on the bottom is their friend and vehicle, Garuda. Incised with writing on the base and back.

A wonderful translucent blue celadon vase done in the classic style of Song Dynasty Chinese pottery. This piece was made by one of the few great female Japanese potters of the previous century, Suwa Sozan II, daughter of Meiji Imperial Court Artist Sozan I.

Suwa Sozan I (1852-1922) was born in an area of what is known today as Ishikawa prefecture. After a short stint in the military he took up pottery design and painting under Touda Tokuji in 1873...

The Choraku line of potters began when a student of Kichizaemon XI (Keinyu) and Kichizaemon XII (Konyu) opened an independent kiln in Kyoto in 1904. The line was officially given the name Choraku in 1906 by Choyuken, the head of a very influential tea ceremony association. Stunning Yoruba stool from the collection of Ursula Voorhuis (1932-2021), The Netherlands. Supported by 6 figures: a family with a nursing mother, a man with a goat, a maternity and a man with a walking stick. H. 30 cm, diameter 33 cm. First half of the 20th century. Condition: age cracks, repair to the goat, some missing parts. Overall in good condition with a lovely patina and remains of Reckitt Blue pigments.

The solid 14K yellow gold is finely crafted in three bats and three prunus flowers on each sides in the 20th Century, marked “14K.” The old Qing Dynasty jadeite is from the 19th Century, hand-crafted in the Ruyi shape, the front crafted with four traditional Chinese character meaning “longevity with wealth and honor”, the reverse crafted with a deer or a dragon-like mythical beast.
