Being offered is a circa 1936 sterling silver salad set by William Spratling of Taxco, Mexico. Handwrought silver salad fork and spoon attached to carved wood handles. These bear the early 'Taxco Mexico' mark that was used between 1933-1940. Dimensions: 12 inches long by 2 inches wide. No monogram. Marked as illustrated in photo. In excellent condition. The craftsman was either David Carlson (1909-1919) or Magnus Carlberg (1922-1932). Dimensions; 4.5" x 4.5" x 1.25" high, weight 5.5 Troy ounces. Excellent condition. There is a monogram "JBR" on the underside and the date Jan.15, 1944, presumably given as a gift at that later time.

A vintage mid century modernist ashtray by William Spratling with three ball feet, rows of five applied disks on three sides, and three horizontal cradles.
Measures 2 1/4" high and 3 1/8" across. Marked with the conjoined 'WS', Taxco Mexico and 925. These were the marks used between 1933-40. In good condition, has some tarnish and very minor dings to the body and the feet. One of the disks on one row is slightly askew which adds to the hand made feel.

A rich, earthy copper red fired on patina is on the interior and on the exterior serving as background to irregular streams, inlets and pools of dappled verdigris among, and picked out by, (seemingly) flames of speckled gold fading into the background color.
