Charming bronze/copper fountain of a squatting boy contemplating a frog. He sits on a bronze base with 3 fish heads spouting water. This terracotta figure of a cymbal player is modelled on the seventeenth century original in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. It is a figure seen in many garden settings since the 1700's. This is an American version in terracotta ca 1930; an identical one is pictured in Barbara Israel's book (p 142, fig. 2.19). There have been some repairs to this piece, but they have been done well for the most part. The figure is 55" high, 26" wide, 24" deep; the base is 17.5" square.
