“48 star flag Arizona and New Mexico circa 1940’s, 60” x 96”, maker: Zerbe, some damage, From private North Carolina collection. United States flags mark the passage of time and when a specific State was admitted into the Union.  Arizona and New Mexico were admitted in 1912, Alaska was the 49 star flag in 1959. Therefore this 48 star flag was the flag of the nation for 47 years.

Lovely double student lamp, all original (not electrified) with brass base and green shades. Measures 24" tall x 20" wide. The only writing I can find is "Duplex Made in England" on the knobs that adjust the wicks. This lamp is in perfect condition.

This is a lovely vintage Lenox powder box signed with the green Lenox mark. There is a pink bird that sits atop the lid. It measures 7" wide x 6 1/4" high and is in perfect condition.

This pair of club chairs that we call Bern Cinema Clair have an rather light tone which is unusual for a pair as old as this. Circa late 1930's, this pair was surely inspired by Jacques Emil Rhulmanns' famous Elephant Club chair. This styling kind of opened the floodgates to more dramatic expression with the form of most French leather Club chairs from that point on. A vintage Japanese book box called Honbako made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. 2 Hinged doors open to a storage space with a removable shelf. Below are 3 drawers where personal effects were stored. Original hardware including the Warabite handles. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and wood dowels to hide the nail connections.

A French Art Deco cocktail pick set in the form of a large snail worked in chrome on a mahogany base. The design is by the famed French Art Deco illustrator Benjamin Rabier, who had a side job designing entertaining barware. The twelve picks have red bakelite finials. Cocktail pick holders ("porte-piques") were once a fixture of every French bar and café. Today, they can be use to spear olives of cherries in a cocktail, or to serve small hors d'oeuvres.
