Japanese hair comb and Kogai hair pin in a Wakasa-nuri Lacquer finish on wood, circa early 1900s. Wakasa-nuri lacquer is a unique urushi lacquer technique that uses stones (coarse to soft) to scrape and reveal different layers of lacquer coatings which are painted on wood using many different colors. The dimensions of the comb are 1 1/4 inches and 3 1/4 inches, pin 5 3/4 inches long.

A fascinating portrait of the noted ukiyoe artist, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. The work was painted by his disciple, Yamanaka Kodo (1869-1945) in 1934 and was originally part of the collection of Kobori Sakae, who collected various old books and donated his collection to the Waseda University. Above the portait are two poems done by two noted poets...

Chinese Jadeite Jade fine quality Disc shape Pendant, Ca. 1940's, 1 3/8" diameter-outside measurement, 1/4" diameter-inner measurement, highly polished mottled green grain, both side have different green natural grains. No damages.
Large blue and white Arita (Imari) porcelain fluted dish. Decorated with a flowered basket having a bird and pomegranates, it dates early 20th C Japan, Taisho. Measures 15.75ʺ diameter × 2.75ʺ high.
This is an old man's silk Jyuban, an undergarment worn under a kimono, a luxury from the past. Strange, but you will find quite a work of art in the undergarment, much more than finding them on the outer kimonos. The carps are tie-dyed. Other than a faint stain right above the right side carp, it is in excellent condition. This stain wil not show up unless you look at it under the sun. The measurements are 52" in width and 53" in length. No lining.
