Chinese Wooden Grain Measuring Bucket, 11" high, 7 1/4" square-top, 14" square-bottom, with heavy black iron mounted frame with multiple studded iron nails, the heavy iron frame covers around the top rim, underneath 2 sides with attached wooden handles. Bottom area of black iron mounted frame is somewhat rusted and damaged with age, and some age cracks on wood.

This is a contemporary, excellently carved carved polychrome netsuke depicting a standing Jurojin, one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune, who is known as the god of longevity. He holds a staff with a sutra hanging from it on his right hand, and a fan on his left hand. Japanese mid 20th century cylindrical shaped bamboo flower basket by basket master, TANABE CHIKUUNSAI II. TANABE CHIKUUNSAI II, from the Osaka area, lived from 1910 to 1999. This basket is signed by the artist and comes with TOMOBAKO, its original wooden artist signed storage box. Also comes with original TOMOGIRE or artist stamped wrapping cloth and OTOSHI, or bamboo water holder. The basket measures 14" tall, 6 7/8" wide and 6 1/2" deep.

This traditional saki (sake)container was probably brought over by a veteran from WWll. The sisal wrap covering protects the stoneware "keg". There is a filling port with cork plug on the top and a 2nd port for pouring low on one side. The sisal covering has painted kenji and graphics on one side...which is somewhat discolored from years of sitting on a shelf...approximately 8x8x8 inches...
