Bulgarian Slip-decorated Plate, Original Label

This terra cotta plate, measuring 8 3/4" in diameter, and 1" deep is decorated with various colors of slip, which create the colorful swirls on the surface. It is crazed, as one might expect pottery of this type to be, but is in overall grand condition. Part of the original label is still visible on the reverse. I suspect that this piece dates from the 1930's or 1940's, and was manufactured in Bulgaria then under Soviet domination.

This set of 6 covered chocolate cups was made by Herend in Hundgry in the 1950's. They are 3 1/4 inches high and 2 5/8 inches in diameter. The porcelain has a basket weave embossed pattern. Applied strwberries and stems adorne the lids. Birds, butterflies and insects decorate the cups. All re in excellent condition, with no defects.

Officers uniform of the Janos Hunyadi huszar regiment. Hunyadi 15th c. famed Hungarian military hero, who drove the Turks out of the Balkans. It is artist signed We'ninget La'szlo'ne, and has the blue Herend mark and the incised mark. Circa 1950. These historical, as well as folk legend pieces are not as readily available as the Herend service and decorative objects. I also have the Bocskai huszar and the Koburg huszar figures. 13 inches high, excellent condition.

Royal Dux figurine, made in Dux, Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. 20" high by 10.5" wide. Has the raised pink triangle with acorn and letter "E" and "Made in Czechoslovakia", so after WWII.
