Offered here is a very lovely majolica plate in an asparagus and shell motif. The colors are luscious greens, pinks and purple on a cream ground. The shell forms are moulded depressions for sauces. The plate is a generous 10" in diameter. No cracks, chips or repairs, only some glaze gaps along the high ridges of the shells, light crazing, and slight discoloration near one edge.

Here we have a 19th century French Louis style charger in blue and white transferware. It has charming designs of a haystack, farming implements, laurel and other motifs that are typical of Louis XV style. It has a scalloped edge and measures 12" in diameter. There is light wear to the edge, minor knife marks in the center, and one pin head size glaze gap on the edge, but no chips, cracks or repairs. It is marked on the bottom S&G. This French majolica Sarreguemines plate is 8 1/4 inches in diameter. The plate has a light turquoise blue background and is decorated with 2 birds, branches and fruit. It is marked with an incised S on the back. The condition is very nice. There are some minor crazing and 2 fleabites on the rim. Check page 36 of Pierre Faveton's wonderful book 'Les Barbotines' for more information on this plate. Circa late 19th century.

Choisy-le-Roi Majolica Pansy Plate

This is another French majolica plate with the cheery triangular pansy design. It is pictured on page 36 of Pierre Faveton's book "Les Barbotines". The plate is 8 1/4 inches in diameter, has the H. Boulenger marking. The plate has a crack on the edge which is approximately 3/4 inch long but which does not go though to the face of the plate. This crack can be seen on the photo on the lower right corner. Also there is some crazing. The plate is quite a lovely piece. Circa 1900.
