The sugar scuttle was made in England in the 1920-1930s of pressed blue glass with a wire handle or bale and was to hold lumps or cubes of sugar. I have often had silver scuttles but this is the first glass scuttle I have found on my antiquing in England. One of the larger Monart vases; shape PH; size V at 8”+ tall. A very impressive piece of art glass by the seminal 20th century Scottish glass works. Gorgeous pink; graduating to a dark maroon at the rim with loads of aventurine in this area. Finished with an applied foot with polished pontil area; with remnants of the pontil scar. Large and impressive. As well as appropriate wear to the bearing surface of the foot of this heavy vase; there is a small nick to the underside edge of the foot. I’ve ... Click for details
