These charming pins were popular in the 1940s and many were copied into Bakelite forms. It's harder and harder to find them in mint condition, like this one. Details such as the reins and eye being intact add value, as well as the eye being inset and not painted on. They don't get better than this. For any horse lover.
The pictures do not reflect the actual item size. See description of measurements.
Brooch measures 3 inches by 2 ¾ inches.

From what I understand, these wonderful art glass orchids were made when the real flowers were unavailable from Hawaii due to war time conditions. The glass work is amazing, with the orchid having thick lavender shaded glass petals and a twisted cloth stem with pin and safety clasp. The matching earrings have screw type fastenings. Dramatic, and very realistic.
Condition: Fine. Colors are beautiful.... Click for details

The ethereal pastel colors of these earrings instantly endeared them to me. The calla and buttercup forms are exquisite, too, and strongly remind me of Victorian floral shell art. That, I believe, was the idea. The first Victorian Revival got underway in latter Art Deco times -- largely because people resorted to wearing older family jewelry during the Depression years. Also because there was little money to buy new things, ladies tried their hands at making shell jewels, often composing them on... Click for details
