Wonderful large pair of Art Deco solid silver tongs. These were made for the European market, most likely in Shanghai in the 1930s. The handles are beautifully handworked in the repousse & chasing to depict stylized oak leaves, the interior shows the tool marks & hammering. The silver is very, very heavy gauge, the tongs measure 6 1/2 inches in length, 1 1/2 inches in width and weigh a notable 192 grams. Unusual spoons designed in the form of silver scallop shells. Stem handles are lacquered wood left natural on one side. These four spoons are in like new condition. From estate of collectors they are hallmarked with Japanese characters for "jungin" or sterling silver. Measure 6 1/4" x 1 1/2" wide at shell. The hand made pottery "Happiness" bowl shown holding the spoon set is by Michel McCarter, a local artist. It can be sold separately for $49.

Circa 1930, Japan, This hammered .950 fineness silver shaker is Japanese Export silver. The style is Art Deco. No monogram, condition is excellent. The only flaw would be that the intermediate cap that contains the strainer is very slightly wavy for about 2”. This is not obtrusive when the shaker is assembled; nor does not affect function, and the piece is nicely tight.
