This unique wooden kite string winder likely dates to circa 1920 or so! Measuring 9 inches high x 6.50 inches wide x 5 inches deep, this piece remains in all-original condition. It has a unique and decorative wooden winding mechanism that is hand cranked via a heavy metal and glass crank which protrudes from one side of the winder. A home-made piece without a maker's mark. An interesting, visually-appealing conversation piece!

Offered here is a large decoy type carving of a Curlew, a type of shore bird. It is hand painted, and of substantial size. The bird measures about 16" across and is approximately 12" high on it's stand. I have no real indication that this is an actual decoy, rather a decorative carving of a bird. It is quite handsome with excellent coloring and form. It shows appropriate wear, wobbles slightly on the stand, more that it will tilt slightly rather than turn over. It dates from early to mid 2... I just couldn't resist bringing this incredible hanging holder or shelf for newspapers,magazines, towels, or whatever you might imagine!The deer, oak, and acorn foliage are wonderful examples of pyrography art.(The white lines showing are filament I used to hang it and I forgot to remove it for photo)The top folding shelf seems to have been reattached with screws slightly unlevel.( In fact I feel sure all the screws in the back are not original to this) .Easy to correct,but I think it adds to i...
