This vintage nutcracker has seen some, but not too much, use. I love the bark on it ! I can see it with a big bowl filled with nuts or in a collection of nut crackers.Perfect for a cabin in the mountains or lake! The bowl is 2.5 X 2.5 and the screw is 3 3/4 ".

Nice wooden recipe box in the form of a book. The cover has burnt and painted decoration showing a cocktail shaker and a beverage. The "title" of the book is "The Art of Mixing Cocktails". The cover opens to reveal a storage area for paper recipe cards specifically designed for cocktail recipes. Ca. 1920. This is one of a series of hand carvings by an Austrian artist of various medical specialties. Over the years, I have had most, if not all of them. This very teutonic looking figure measures 5 1/4" high, and about 2" at the base. The pediment bears the inscription, "GASTROENTEROLGIST The best medicine is mush". It is hand carved, and in excellent condition.
Every antique should have a story; here is the one I have created for this one.
From the time he was a kinder in kindergarten, Heinrich... Click for details

This unique hand carved Swiss Nut Cracker in the shape of a fish, complete with carved scales most likely came from Brienz, the true source of Black Forest Carvings. It seems to have never been used to crack nuts ,but has patina, probably used purely as decoration! This would be used at the dinner table, as fruit and nuts are often served after the meal. It is most unusual and in perfect condition! A great accent for your home and nut bowl! 8" long

This beautifully carved plate was presented for a "Trek Across Bern" 1937…maybe equivalent to a marathon? The little hanger on the back has removed and marks on the front indicate it was then most likely used as a bread board. A nice daily reminder of glory for someone. This is a very handsome piece, especially for a runner! 11" dia.
