This is a framed large piece of hand made Italian Point d Venice needlelace with an image of Elisabeth, Queen of Belgium who was married to King Albert I. She reigned with him from 1909-1934, and reigned as Dowager Queen until her death in 1965. She was much loved by the Belgian people. She assisted with the rescue of hundreds of Jewish children from deportation by Hitler. She was a supporter of the arts and was know for her friendship with notable scientists like Albert Einstein. Offered here is an exquisite Italian Point d Venice lace with the image of Albert I, King of the Belgians. King Albert reigned from 1909-1934. The lace is all hand made, and the image of the king is an incredible likeness of his official pictures. The lace measures 21"x 18", the frame is 26"x 22".
