A splendid, long country Quebec rag rug cotton runner rug c1920s-30s. These rugs are made from narrow, coloured cloth strips. Found stored for decades in an attic trunk and smell/smoke free, this runner measures just under 8 feet long and is 20-1/2" wide (sans fringe); the colours are vibrant and unfaded and this rug, as far as we know, was put in the trunk and never used. It has some minor breaks/pulls on the last few strips on the end, which appear to be unfinished - they have not been knotted... Click for details

This elegant towel would have been part of a trousseau, with the small hand embroidered MH monogram. The linen is soft and drapey with classic designs of fleur-de-lis and cartouche, drawn hem stitching and 1 1/4" of hand knotted lace at each end. Measures 21" X 40 1/2". Now laundered and ironed...very white,photos have been darkened to show pattern detail.

Presented here for sale is a rare and highly collectible Grenfell hooked rug from the remote areas of Labrador and Newfoundland, featuring a “vertical” polar bear on an ice flow with gulls overhead. This unique piece, measures 40” long by 26” wide, was hooked by local native women out of discarded articles of clean clothing and old nylon stockings.
