Great combination of detailed with primitive. Pristine condition; circa 1930. Pennsylvania origin. Wool front; cotton flannel border and backing. Measures 68" x 90.

The maker of this Four Patch quilt has achieved a three dimensional effect in a very simple pattern. In part, this is due to the use of related, dark but not drab, materials. Many of them are subtly patterned as is visible in the close-up photos. The use of red quilting thread in a crisscross pattern that is at 45 degree angles to the squares also contributes.
