Unique, charming quilt of rabbits and chicks which are rarely depicted in quilts. Blades of grass and animal details are embroidered. Fabrics are arranged in diagonal rows; some of the pink prints are bunnies. Pristine condition; nicely quilted with cabled border and flowers in between the animals. Measures 62" x 76"; Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin. Circa 1930.

Absolutely charming crib quilt that is a miniaturized version of Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam. Each dress and shirt is a different fabric. Pristine, unwashed condition. Nicely quilted. Backing fabric of sailboats is equally interesting to use as a wholecloth quilt. Measures 45" x 54". Pennsylvania origin; 1930's.

Crib Quilt consisting of Bars filled with One Patches. Excellent, unwashed condition. Top was made circa 1890 and, based upon the backing, probably quilted in the 1930's. Pieces such as these that are completed a generation later are called Mother-Daughter quilts but do not refer to family relations. Measures 48" x 52"; Pennsylvania origin.

It's difficult to describe this Pinwheels variation quilt as it makes several equally prominent patterns. In addition to what was probably meant as the dominant pattern, the white blocks make Four Point Stars. The; elongated diamonds are an additional pattern. Terrific variety of 1930's fabrics. Excellent condition. Maryland origin; measures 72" x 79".

Delightful Pinwheels quilt in which the small scale of the triangles goes perfectly with the small size of the quilt. Wonderful use of all solid colored fabrics. Freshly laundered; excellent condition. Measures 58" x 90", an excellent size for a throw or a wall hanging. Circa 1930; New York State.

Probably a unique variation of a Carpenter's Square quilt. In its traditional version, this is always a bold pattern but the scale of this single block makes it even more dramatic. Signed "Clarence Sharp's Quilt 1934" as seen in last thumbnail photo. Most likely it was made for Clarence but it is certainly conceivable that he was the proud maker. Wholecloth Quilt with Fruits; Circa 1930

Droll seems like the best word to describe this unusual 1930's Wholecloth Quilt depicting fruits. One is accustomed to seeing floral motifs on wholecloths, rather than fruits. At the same time, one does not often see a wholecloth quilt from this era; they were far more popular 100 years earlier in the 1830's. The fabric maker took artistic license in choosing the colors of the fruits as well as showing some of them made of lace. Reverses to a totally different printed backing seen in last thumbn... Finely quilted Amish Open Center quilt, most likely from Ohio. Quilted with patterns of concentric circles, wreaths, feathers and cables. Stitching is especially prominent because it is all done in white thread. Unwashed condition; one small area of discoloration that is visible in some, but not all, lights. Measures 68" x 84"; cotton. Circa 1930.
