A superb carved wood Kohl container, most likely from Mor0cco or Ethiopia. The body is 2-3/4" high, 1-7/8" wide and is carved from finely grained hardwood. It's decorated with incised designs executed in linear patterns. Both stopper and applicator are nicely turned and match. In excellent condition, with a rich patina developed from long usage. Collected in the 1950's, museum deaccession.

Statue of a kneeling man, wearing stylized necklace and bracelets. The piece was carved from an elephant bone. It seems some sacrificial material was stuffed on top and beneath the statue. Africa, R.D. Congo, Lega Peoples. Height: 10 3/4" (27,5 cm). Beautiful brown glossy patina, obvious signs of age and use, very good condition. Note: this kind of piece is rare.

Fine hunter's slingshot, its handle carved in the shape of a human bust on its front and an inverted mask at its back. Wood, with honey coloured patina. Africa, Ivory Coast, Baule Peoples. Height: 6 1/2" (16,5 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Some age cracks, slight erosion and wear, otherwise very good condition.
