Hand-carved by a Kenyan artisan … This rhinoceros woodcarving is an outstanding example of vintage African folk art. It is crafted from what looks like finely grained, light and dark teak, and boasts a lovely polish and satiny finish. It measures 5-3/4” long x 2-1/2” high x 1-1/4” wide. It is a splendid old piece—at least thirty to forty years old—and the tribesman’s carving marks are still wonderfully evident. Face mask of rounded rectangular shape, with protruding large forehead, square pierced through eyes, thin long nose, square pierced through mouth showing teeth, short chin.
