Bold cobalt blue and yellow Indian drum from the Cochiti Pueblo of New Mexico, purchased in 1954 from Al Momaday at a Pow Wow in Oklahoma. Momaday was not the maker but the seller.

This fine old drum has been in one home all these years.

Old Papago Indian Yucca Basketry Bowl

The mellow golden color of the aged yucca and the strong black devils claw design make a striking graphic basketry bowl. Papago Indian, circa 1930s, the weave is strong and the walls are firm, just like a bowl. The modified "Wheels of Life" design gives us the date. It was not used after 1938. To the Papago and Pima Indians of Arizona it represents the dust devils which are the breath of the ancestors.

Nice old handmade silver pillbox, the lid decorated with a motif of sawtooth crescents flanking a diamond form. The slightly domed box lid is hinged with the old style Navajo applied strap mounts. Nice pillbox size, it measures 1 3/8 inches in length, 1 inch in width and 3/8 inch in height. The piece has no signatures or markings as is usual on the old pieces, but is guaranteed to be coin or sterling silver. Looks like an old Fred Harvey or Route 66 piece and is in excellent condition.
