Lovely and graceful pottery bowl by Maricopa Indian artist Alma Lawrence. Handcrafted with coils of native clay, paddle and anvil smoothed, red slip applied inside, red slip on outside is stone burnished to a high shine, decorated with mesquite sap paint then pit fired. The repeating design of curvilinear and angular lines are finely executed around the upper two thirds of the exterior.

Large Apache olla shaped basket with 34 figures of men, deer and dogs. Beautifully balanced shape and design finely woven with willow and devils claw over a three rod willow foundation.

Standing 14" tall and 12 1/2" diameter at the shoulder, 4 coils and 18 wefts per inch. Perfect original condition, no missing or replaced stitches, no stains or discolorations, light age patina.... Click for details

Yavapai Indian basket of willow and devils claw, woven by the famous Bessie Mike in the 1960s, very late for a coil basket. Bessie Mike was one of the last of the old generation Yavapai basket weavers. The willow is just beginning to get a patina.

The basketry tray with four eagles in a flower with a checkerboard center is nicely woven. The rim is beautiful with the alternating willow and devils claw. 10 1/2" diame... Click for details

Bold cobalt blue and yellow Indian drum from the Cochiti Pueblo of New Mexico, purchased in 1954 from Al Momaday at a Pow Wow in Oklahoma. Momaday was not the maker but the seller.

This fine old drum has been in one home all these years.

Red ware pottery bowl by Hopi Indian artist Garnet Pavatea, purchased at the Hopi Show of 1968 at the Museum of Northern Arizona.
