SOLD! 
The mellow golden color of the aged yucca and the strong black devils claw design make a striking graphic basketry bowl. Papago Indian, circa 1930s, the weave is strong and the walls are firm, just like a bowl. The modified "Wheels of Life" design gives us the date. It was not used after 1938. To the Papago and Pima Indians of Arizona it represents the dust devils which are the breath of the ancestors.

Finely woven basket of willow and devils claw coiled over a grass bundle foundation by Akimel O'odham, Pima Indians, of central Arizona. This tribe of weavers are world famous for their smoothly woven and graphically designed baskets.

A vintage 1920s-30s 11-1/2" high (with handles) and 10" diameter Micmac or Penobscot North American Indian basket. This basket is constructed of birch and sweetgrass and it retains traces of green colour on the bottom and interior. This item is in excellent original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than one split loop and a couple of small cracks on two others. An attractive, well-made vintage Mi'kmaq / Micmac sweetgrass and wood splint woven basket c1900-20. This 8" diameter and 6-1/4" tall basket features curled wood splint borders on the lid, side and foot with sweetgrass braids and sweetgrass edging on the lid. It has remnants of red colouring (bright on the interior and on the bottom, faded on the exterior). It has the expected curls in two bands along the body, and this example is undyed. This item is in excellent original condition with no cracks, splits, breaks, losses, damage or repairs. Very finely woven grasses dyed and natural make this old Kuskwogmiut, Alaskan Eskimo, basket very beautiful. Note the imbricated tiny designs around the edge of the lid and rim. Nice spiral design on the lid and the bowl.

Dimensions are 9" diameter by 3" tall plus the knob. Too fine to count the stitches, 4 coils per inch.

Beautifully woven basketry covering an old glass bottle, from Northern California, not positive which Indian group. Materials include beargrass, maidenhair fern, pine root.

The bottle stands 6 3/4" tall and is 2 3/4" diameter. Note the blue glass stopper.
