Handwoven basketry bowl with ceremonial corn meal remnants, used by the Navajo Medicine Men as a bowl for sacred corn meal, the center hole is plugged with a piece of cloth. Very old style design of three sets of stacked arrows, may be for a particular ceremony.

A trinket basket with lid woven by the Nootka or Makah Indians of the Northwest Coast area. Gift baskets like these were made for almost 100 years, but the finer they are the older they are. This one is probably from the post WWII era. Certainly no later than the 1950s.

Vintage willow and devils claw basketry tray from the Pima Indians of Arizona. Woven before 1950, the Whirling Logs or Tacit represents the dust devils in the desert, said to be the spirits of the ancestors. Two coyote tracks are offset.

A vintage Eastern Canada round covered sweetgrass and wood splint basket with colour decoration c1900. This 7-1/2" diameter and 3-1/4" high Mi'kmaq / Micmac or Penobscot basket has a twisted rope-style construction, and it retains bright dyed colours of the bottom and interior, in blue, red and orange. Circa 1960s Pima Indian basketry olla, willow, and devils claw with mesquite dyed willow for red. The design is called 'Coyote dragging his foot'.

Nicely woven stitches, 6 1/4" tall by 7 1/4" across. Three colored baskets are called polychrome and are relatively rare among the Pima.
