This outstanding carved black ware jar is by Legoria Tafoya, of Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico. It features a polished black body with wonderful carved designs wrapped around the mid body. Legoria(1911-1984) is known mostly for making small animal figurines, candlesticks, and carved blackware jars and bowls, like this one. It is signed Legoria/Sta Clara Pueblo on the underside. The jar is in excellent condition. It measures 9" x 6" and weighs about 2.5 lbs.

This is a lovely black on black bowl by "Blue Corn"(Crucita Gonzales Calabaza) of San Ildefonso Pueblo, New Mexico. Although Blue Corn is most famous for re-introducing San Ildefonso polychrome wares, she also made redware and blackware, such as this. This bowl features a feather motif, and is signed on the bottom. It is in good condition, no chips or cracks. It measures 4.5" x 2.5" and weighs about 9 ounces. Circa:1950s to 1960s
