Empty zushi (shrine) of a very simple mokko shape, made of gilded metal. The outside in dull gilding, the inside shiny, orange-tinged gold. The upper draping (plastic) with two phoenixes and a jewel in the clouds, the base on the bottom decorated with a plant design. The bottom outside lined with green felt. Japan, Showa period.

Japanese SCROLL of Buddhist Art with a central Buddha flanked by Bosatsu, with two other figures kneeling in the foreground. This scroll was printed. There is some slight damage and creases to the scroll, although the print itself remains in good, frame-able condition. Dimensions of the scroll overall are 8.5 inches x 24.25 inches. The picture itself is 6 7/8" x 14 3/8". Circa: 1930's.

The figure wears traditional brown and saffron colored Buddhist robes. He holds a Buddhist rosary in his left hand and a vajra (mace with four prongs symbolizing a thunderbolt) in his right hand. This Japanese Temple Bell is cast in bronze approx. 1/8 of an inch thick with simple concentric rings around the bell topped with a floret type design. The handle cast separately in great detail. The clapper is also metal and the sound is pure and piercing. Circa, 1930's; height= 7 inches.
