Finely painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with flying birds, blossoming trees, mountains, pagoda,
iris and chrysanthemums, gilt geometric decoration in colour reserves on shoulders and base.
Signed underside, Shimazu family crest, cartouche reads Satsuma. Japan, Satsuma, Taisho period (1912-1926).
Perfect antique condition, no chips, cracks or repairs, see photographs. Measurement: 11.4 in (29cm) high.

Beautiful oribe green glazed vase by Kato Keitoku (1934~ formerly known as Kato Keiya). He was born and is working in Seto city in Aichi prefecture and was accepted 16 times at the Japan Art Exhibition (Nitten) and won many prizes. Oribe ware was first made by Furuta Oribe who was a master of ceremonial tea in Momoyama era (late 16th C)in Gifu prefecture.
In excellent condition with a signed box. Mid Showa era. Height 20cm 7.9" Diameter 8cm
