Vintage Japanese Noh theater mask, mid Showa-Period (c. 1950). Carved from wood, with red, black and gold paint. 7 1/4 inches tall, 5 1/2 inches wide. Excellent condition, no chips or cracks. Depicts Tengu, the long-nosed goblin character of Japanese folklore.

The sea bream has long been a prized fish in Japan, and here it's modeled in a jizai kagi, or pothook crosspiece. It's carved of hardwood and sits neatly on its fins when not installed on a jizai pole. Dates from early Showa or before.

A four piece stacking Bento Box by Iwamoto Yasuo reminiscent of Ainu carving carved from a single slab of tocchi wood with symbols of infinity on all four sides. Inside the lid is lined with mother of pearl. It has a beautiful grain perfectly lacquered and is signed on the base. The piece is 9 x 5 x 6 inches (22.5 x 12 x 15 cm) and in excellent condition.

Japanese studio porcelain celadon glazed RABBIT with a wooden box and lid marked with artist's name and their seal or "hanko." Well modeled, this rabbit would make a fine gift for that special person in your life who likes rabbits! There are 3 other rabbits which are shown and are antiques for the real wabbit lover! Circa 1970's. Condition is excellent, length is 4.75 inches (12 cms.) and the height is 4 inches or 10 cms.

Hollow gourd hangs for ikebana or dried arrangement. The gourd is 25" long and about 7" in diameter with spectacular mottling on the skin. It's hung by a cord that captures the lid. It's difficult to date this piece with certainty so we'll say it's Showa, pre-1980.
