Vintage earthenware Maneki Neko, the traditional Japanese beckoning or welcoming cat. Maneki Neko are commonly displayed at restaurants and bars as a symbol of welcoming and good fortune. This piece is unusually large, measuring approximately 18 inches tall, 11 inches wide, and 9 inches deep. It dates to the early Showa-Period (c.1930), and is in very good condition. This Japanese wooden cake mold is from Taisho era (1912-1926). The mold has four lovely food designs, which are a lotus, a bamboo shoot, a loot vegetable, and a seaweed bow tie(?). The back of the mold has a writing in sumi ink and it confirms the date, 'Taisho 12, December', along with the name of the cake business. The dimensions: 3 1/8" wide 13" long 2" thick
