This Kanto (Tokyo) style hibachi with drawers is made of wonderful Keyaki (elm) wood. It contains some of the original hardware for cooking and includes a pair of brass tongs for arranging the coals. The wooden box is lined with copper. The bottom of the copper firepan is gone but the sides remain. It's pictured with ashes and cookware but the copper may be polished if desired. A very SHIBUI interior Japanese four panel SCREEN with "Leopard-spot" bamboo and woven bamboo at the top of each panel. All panels have been tied together with hemp string. The total height is 49" and the overall length is 5 feet. Good condition, circa 1930's.
