The design of Fuji(japense wisteria) design done in two tones of different gold color on wisteria and leaves. Bamboo stick looks has some silver color in it. Measurements: 2 1/4" (5.7cm) height, 19 1/2" (49.5cm) wide and 10" (25.3cm) deep. Wooden lacquer Suiban is in the shape of old japanese-style boat. The parts which look as bamboo is made with lacpuerwork, Hashiichi-style. Rare, finely skillful artisan work in excellent condition. It was made in 1937, Showa era.

A lacquered bamboo vase covered in ro-iro black with an inset band of nashiji decorated with Mother of Pearl plum blossoms and vertical bands of Mother of Pearl lined with gold. The vase is 12 inches (31 cm) tall, 5-1/2 inches (14 cm) diameter and in excellent condition, enclosed in the original wooden box stamped Sanshuken (Shimano Sanshu). A tiny ding near the base is all that could detract from the mirror surface.

Rich layers of tsugaru lacquer have been applied to this 'suzuri bako' letter box. The ink stone was kept inside and the 'fude' writing brushes. This style of suzuri bako is extremely rare. Most are black or gold lacquered. Tsugaru lacquers were applied with a spatula to create an art deco effect. The lid is ever so slightly warped and hardly noticable. c.1930.
