This elegant Japanese porcelain dish in scalloped octagonal form is hand painted in vibrant overglaze polychrome enamels and comes with its original signed wooden storage box (“tomobako”). There is a two character underglaze blue signature on the base. We believe it dates to the early to mid-20th century, but we have not been able to identify the artist. A Footed Imari or Kutani Sake Cup - Meiji/Taisho

A nice little footed sake cup - the colors are more those of the Kutani palette or it could be am Imari piece. We date it to the late Meiji period to early Taisho - circa 1900-1925 - the wear on the foot might indicate an earlier date. The cup measures 2 1/4" high x 2 1/8" diameter at the top and 5/8" diameter at the base. It is in excellent condition.

This lidded Kakiemon dates from the Taisho period (1920s). It was produced in the kiln that Kakiemon XII co-founded with a businessman called Obata in 1919. Their partnership broke apart in 1930.
