This elegant Japanese porcelain dish in scalloped octagonal form is hand painted in vibrant overglaze polychrome enamels and comes with its original signed wooden storage box (“tomobako”). There is a two character underglaze blue signature on the base. We believe it dates to the early to mid-20th century, but we have not been able to identify the artist. This 3-3/4" high bowl fetaures colourful handpainted fruits and flowers on the interior, which has a blue/green luster rim, center and exterior with lush gold trim. A set of Four Charming Japanese Imari Porcelain Bowls. Enamel decorated scenes of water, birds, floral and bamboo panels framed with fronds of gold gilding.
