Here is a particularly well made porcelain hachi (bowl) with amazing underglaze cobalt blue drawings of what seem to be a tree, some flowers and a poem. The box is also decorated to reflect the art of the vessel it contains. This is a unique work made by a very skilled craftsman. Although there is no information about the maker, it is very probable a painter or calligraphist, named Mokusen, decorated the bowl made by a porcelain maker, prior to firing. The size of Kogo: 2 3/8" Dia x 1 1/2" High. Pretty Japanese Kyo Yaki Porcelain Kogo. The Kogo was made with fine quality Kyo Yaki porcelain. It has Akadama(red ball) design with geometric design with three gold design, finely made. It has the artist's signature on the bottom with Sometsuke(blue underglaze). The Kiri Box is new. We supply also new orange cloth. The condition of Kogo excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. Dating Kogo 1930-40.

This superb Japanese porcelain dish, hand painted in underglaze blue and bright overglaze polychrome enamels, is the work of Kakiemon Sakaida XII (1878-1963). The highly refined milky white glazed body is decorated in the traditional Kakiemon palette of red, blue, green and yellow with a design of a butterfly hovering above chrysanthemums issuing from a rocky outcropping near a brushwood fence.
