Exquisite is a great word to describe this early Art-deco influenced form by important artist Asami Ryuzo enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is similar to a piece submitted by Ryuzo to the 1929 Nitten National Exhibition and so we will date it circa 1930. Thin walled with precise edges, the delicate handles are reminiscent of his father/teacher Asami Gorosuke. The blended Shigaraki clay is covered in altered (kama-hen) pale green and olive oil spot glaze over blue on a raked surfa... Click for details

This unique vase measures 12.25" tall and is 3.5" across the base. It is entirely hand decorated with Lavender and Gold flowers on a Multi-Colored background. I believe this vase to be made in Japan in the 1920's or possibly earlier. The vase is unmarked. There is some minor crazing which is considered normal wear for pottery of this age of 80+ years. The overall condition is considered to be excellent with no chips or cracks. A stunning addition to any decor.

Here is an interesting Vase likely made in Japan in the 1920's or possibly earlier. This vase measures 12.5" tall and the base is 3 5/8" wide. These colors of Orange, Green, and Lavender flowers outlined in Gold just pop out at you! The handles are also highlighted in Gold. There is some very minor crazing on the body of the vase which can come naturally with pottery of this age of 80+ years. The overall condition is considered to be excellent with no chips or cracks.
