A fine modern studio pottery Japanese tea caddy glazed in a roughly textured ivory white glaze – with a single new moon in underglaze blue as its only design. The natsume measures 2 1/8” high by 2 ½” diameter and is in mint condition. It is not signed but does have within the caddy a piece of paper identifying it as “Moon” – Tsuki.

A richly textured Shigaraki Uzukumaru Tsubo decorated with a single drip of charred green glaze by representative Shigaraki artist Sugimoto Sadamitsu enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The entire piece is covered in crustaceous pale ash, a single lick of flame colored earth rising up the back. It is 7-1/2 inches (19 cm) tall and in perfect condition.
