This is gorgeous tsutsugaki futon cover. It is made of thick cotton, and dyed with indigo. Its incredibly beautiful hawk and peony motif are dyed with tsutsugaki technique. Its pale color has nostalgic touch. It is from Kyusyu district, and from pre WWII. It doesn't have holes and tears, and doesn't have prominent stains. This is rare cotton towel for baby, which is called 'yuage'. It has exceptionally colorful crane, tortoise, pine tree, ume blossom and old couple, which are painted with tsutsugaki technicue. Its pattern is called 'takasago', which has auspicious meaning. Tsutsugaki technique had been frequently used for the items for the betrothed couples, for examples futton cover, 'yogi' ( kimono shape bedding ) , 'furoshiki' (square wrapping clothes), 'yutan'(furniture cover) and other ceremonial items. This is a vintage kasuri fabric from Horiuchi collection. Horiuchi san is famous kasuri collector, and allowed us to sell this piece. It was woven in Taisho period(1912-1925), and from Kurume. This piece has exceptionally beautiful castle and geometric pattern, which was hand woven. It was a fabric of futon cover. Thickness is medium, and has soft touch. This is a are stage costume from pre WWII. Upper part is made of flannel cotton, and has stunning hawk and pine tree motifs, which are heavily embroidered. Please enjoy its incredible embroiery work with more photos. Bottom is very long hakama, which has exotic dragon motif, which is woven. Upper one has some flaws as photos show. This is an exceptionally rare monk's kesa. It is made of transparent silk, and considered to be from pre WWII. It has exceptionally unique pattern on it - 14 monks are hand painted artistically. Please check the incredible details with more photos. It has signiture in the left under corner. It has some small holes ( mainly in the right side, and right upper side ), and some slight stains. This is the best piece of this year. Five Furisode and one juban(undergarment) set from Taisho period(1912-1925). All pieces have bold yuzen and heavy embroidery all over it. Especially its embroidery part is large and gorgeous. Five Furisode have same kamon, and this set seemed to be ordered exceptionally rich family. Date Mid-Showa era (1940-1960). This boy's miyamairi (Shinto christening) silk kimono features depictions of ships laden with traditional treasures. These treasures include a wish-granting mallet, a bottomless purse, a cape of invisibility, coral and a rhinocerous horn: all symbols of good fortune.
