Taisho era (1912-1926). This is an early example of silk meisen (ikat) kimono. Created during the Taisho era, this soft, striking garment features colours and patterning reminiscent of Uzbek central Asian ikat robes. The basting threads are intact. Some metallic threads were inserted, resulting in rich highlights. Very good condition. 49" from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 58" height.

The rinzu (damask) silk base features fan and tsuzumi motifs, highlighted with metallic embroidery and painted outlining. The white lapel is profusely embroidered.
