This finely skillful dog is carved from single piece of hard wood by Seimin Kai (1896-1968). He was a skilled carver who made the decoration of portable shrines. There is sign of artist, SEIMIN, on the bottom. It is in excellent condition. Measurements: 5 3/4"(14.5 cm) tall and 10 1/4" by 4 1/2"(26 x 11.5 cm) across.

Two drawers abide inside this kiri cash box. There's faint kanji outside the sliding front cover and more writing inside that's not faded out. There's hardware on the exterior that may have secured the box to a larger piece at one time; it appears as if a rod could slide under the box front-to-back.
